Volunteering is a great way to connect with others, learn about gardening, and make a visible impact in Hermann Park. To schedule a group volunteer experience, please reach out in advance to volunteer@hermannpark.org to coordinate availability and project details.

We want you to have an enjoyable and meaningful experience volunteering with Hermann Park Conservancy. Below are guidelines to help make your time with us productive and comfortable.

What to Wear:

All Conservancy volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. Dress appropriately for the weather. Utilize layering and clothing made of wicking materials and/or sun protection. It's Houston, so don't forget the rain gear for those unexpected rain showers! Make sure your clothing can get dirty, wet, or muddy.  OPTIONAL - Wide-Brimmed hat Please do not wear sandals, flip-flops, shorts, halter-tops, or clothing with references to alcohol, drugs, or sex.

What to Bring:

Individual refillable water bottle Snacks Completed Conservancy waiver/photo release (if not already on file) Sunscreen Insect Repellant Gloves will be provided if necessary for the project, but you are welcome to bring your favorite pair from home.

McGovern, MD, helped shape Houston into the vibrant, compassionate city it is today. On Tuesday, September 15th, we invite you to celebrate her birthday by giving back to one of the places she loved most — the McGovern Centennial Gardens. Bring your friends, family, and your spirit of service — together, we’ll honor Mrs. Govern’s memory in the most meaningful way: by caring for the community she cherished. Volunteer with us and help continue her legacy through gardening, beautification, and stewardship projects that keep the Gardens thriving and welcoming to all.

Join Hermann Park Conservancy on Friday, September 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a meaningful morning of service in Hermann Park. In recognition of the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, volunteers will unite for good by participating in hands-on projects that help care for and beautify the Park. Projects may include gardening, planting, mulching, litter removal, and other seasonal maintenance activities. Together, we will honor the spirit of service, strengthen our community, and make a lasting impact on one of Houston’s most treasured public spaces. All tools and project instructions will be provided.

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer event for public lands, held each year on the fourth Saturday in September. NPLD is a day of service as well as an opportunity to give back, build community, and enjoy the public lands that support our health, environment, and well-being.

We're proud to bring that spirit of service to Hermann Park Conservancy, where volunteers like you help keep one of Houston's most beloved green spaces vibrant and welcoming for everyone. Whether you're planting trees, restoring native gardens, or sprucing up trails and gathering spaces, your time and energy make a real, lasting difference.
